Breakout Growth Advisors assists leaders of emerging and mature businesses in achieving their next level of growth by developing and executing a portfolio of growth initiatives. The Breakout team includes a collaborative mix of Senior Executives and Entrepreneurs with hands on experience growing businesses ranging in size from start-up companies to multinational corporations. Breakout works with the clients’ executive teams to improve the value of their business by developing and executing plans for Revenue Growth, Profit Growth and Organizational Growth.

Principals

Tom COsta, CEO

A dynamic executive with over 25 years of experience in starting and growing technology companies, Mr. Costa offers valuable insight and advice to leaders of emerging companies.

Early in his career, Mr. Costa founded Monterey Microsystems, Inc., a provider of software and professional IT services. He grew the company from startup to over $30M in revenue in seven years and sold the company to Intelligent Electronics, a publicly held company. Tom served as Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Intelligent Electronics from 1990 to 1996. In this position, he had national responsibility for revenue growth, profit growth, consulting delivery and assimilation of acquisitions.

Tom later founded and sold two companies – Integration Partners, Inc., an IT consulting firm and Onesearch, Inc., a technology recruiting firm specializing in the permanent placement of Information Technology technical and sales professionals nationwide. In these positions, Tom was responsible for business model development, revenue and profit growth and market positioning.

Ellen Milantoni, Principal Advisor

A proven leader and entrepreneur, Ellen brings over 20 years of experience in the IT sector. Most recently, Ellen was Founder, CEO and President of LogicLibrary, an enterprise software and services company. At LogicLibrary she was able to successfully raise $13M in venture capital, and create the infrastructure, revenue, clients, partnerships for an on-going, viable business.

Prior to LogicLibrary Ellen held many senior roles in Sales, Marketing and Business Development. Her enterprise software experience was gained working for Fortune 100 companies such as IBM as well as numerous start-ups. As Business Development Manager at Open Environment Corporation she was able to help direct a $3M pre-IPO company through a successful IPO to become a $30M/year business in 2 years prior to being sold to Borland International. While at Borland, Ellen was VP of Sales, responsible for $100M in annual revenue.

Ellen spent 10 years at IBM as an International Accounts Sales Manger, managing worldwide multi-national clients and distributed sales teams. She obtained numerous awards and recognition for her outstanding contributions. Her last year at IBM was as a senior manager in the software group, responsible for bringing nascent technologies and solutions to market.

Ellen has worked as a visiting scientist for Carnegie Mellon, Software Engineering Institute helping to bring best practice software initiatives to the DOD and mainstream markets. She also is a mentor with the University of Pittsburgh Entrepreneur Fellows program.

Ellen is a 1978 graduate of the University of Minnesota with a Business of Arts degree in Journalism. She has done post graduate work at Harvard.
